Kenneth Paul Kasarjian went by Ken, but if you called him Kenny K you'd earn a smile from the man himself, and maybe a soft spot in his heart.

Ken's smile was magnetic and sincere.  His warmth came through the moment he met someone new -- he made instant friends with the service guy or the president at the bank.  He remembered names and faces, and personal stories.  He listened intently and cared deeply. Ken was equally comfortable at a black tie affair in New York City, or a backyard barbecue at the lake.

He was born in Boston and raised in Newton.  A not-so-well-off boy in a wealthy town, he used the good school system to his advantage -- studying hard, playing sports, and ultimately landing a full scholarship to Colby College.  But after his first year, Ken returned home to help out his mom and younger siblings, attending Northeastern's work/study program.  He'd load trucks at night and go to school during the day, catching naps in between.

That was Ken -- always putting others first, always extremely generous, always working exceptionally hard.  That work ethic carried him to the heights of his career. But it didn't keep him from his family life.  His family, his children, and later his grandchildren were always the most important in his world.  He took seriously his role of Dad, and then Papa.  Coaching softball teams, attending plays and recitals, cheering at games, cooking for anyone and everyone.  He made every child feel special -- he played on the floor, he went fishing, he threw the ball.  He was present.

Kenny K lived a lot of lives -- he'd be the first to admit it.  He was married and divorced twice; his business successes ended less than successfully, but that didn't keep him down.  Nothing really did.  He always managed to pick himself up, dust himself off, and build himself a beautiful life -- with friends, interests, and lots of family around him.  His love of gardening inspired him to launch a Community Garden in Moultonboro.  A perfect day for Ken would include cooking, a ride on his Harley, and playing with his grandchildren -- Wonder Woman, Mighty Man, and Miss Nosy.

Ken fought like a warrior against laryngeal cancer, but it won out in the end.  He leaves behind heartbroken family and friends, including his daughter, Kendall, her husband Brendan, and their children, Ava and Ryan; his daughter, Kara, her husband Kenneth, and their daughter Grace; his sons, Jordan and Devon; his older brother Levon, his sister, Audrey, and his younger brother, Robert, along with their spouses and children; and his "special friend," Ginny Murphy.

A memorial will be held in Ken's honor on July 23rd at 1:30pm.  The service will take place at First Congregational Church of Meredith, NH, 4 Highland Street.  Donations for cancer research can be made in Ken's honor to Conquer Cancer Foundation at www.conquer.org.
