Josephine V. Kontos, (Prato) of Concord, NH, formerly of Arlington, Massachusetts, passed away with her loving daughter by her side on November 28, 2022, at the age of 95.
She was a devoted wife of the late Mickael Kontos, a loving mother of Katherine Lashon and her late husband Louis Lashon, and the late Peter Kontos. She was the cherished grandmother of Taryn Henderson (Lashon), Curtis Lashon, Jacob Scott and Peter Kontos Jr. She was an adored great-grandmother of Hazel Henderson, Brayden Henderson, and Gianna Kontos. She is the daughter of the late Antonio & Lena Prato and beloved sister of the late Elizabeth Carracini, and Bruno Prato. Also survived by nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives and friends.
Josie retired from Symmes Hospital over 30 years ago where she was the Secretary for the Respiratory Therapy Department. If anyone had the honor of meeting her, they would remember her for the rest of their life. She was a very intelligent, talented, independent, and happy woman with a positive attitude and just loved life. In spite of the tragedies in her life, she chose to make the best of everything. She was always participating in many groups and was a very active member with the Shriner’s Jolly Elders, the Arlington Senior Center, and was the Treasurer of AARP just to name a few.
Visiting hours will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 am Monday, December 5, 2022, at the Rogers and Hutchins Funeral Home, 292 Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington.
Funeral mass to follow at 11:30 am, at St. Agnes Church, 54 Medford Street in Arlington.
The interment will be at the Cambridge Cemetery, 76 Coolidge Avenue in Cambridge.
